Hi, today while searching for a new topic to write about, I have come across a question that quite a few people asked about: What is visualization technique? And even if you have already heard about this technique, maybe you are still confused about how to really use it in the most effective way, to literally (YES, LITERALLY) get anything that you want in life.
So today I’m back with a very comprehensive and easy-to–follow guide about visualization. I beleive this article will be helpful for you to really apply this technique into your daily life and this will be the only article you will ever need to read about visualization. So let s get into it!
WHAT IS VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUE?
Visualization technique is simply a way to utilize the power of imagination to influence our subconscious mind. It’s like through visualization, we see a glimpse of our desired outcome and move one step closer towards that outcome.
So what is visualization technique?
Visualization technique, also known as guided imagery, is a mental exercise that involves using the power of the mind to create or recreate sensory experiences, such as sights, sounds, smells, and feelings.
In this technique, a person may close their eyes and focus their attention on a particular image, including feeling all the sensory details and emotions associated with that image.
By fully immersing in your imagination, your brain and body respond as if you are really living in the imaginative scene because our brain cannot differentiate between what is real and what is not.
This practice helps us tremendously to achieve a state of relaxation, live in the wish-fulfilled state, or get motivated to strengthen our belief system in achieving our dreams.
If you think visualization is a new technique exclusively used by spiritual teachers, you may want to think again.
Visualization technique has been applied through many different areas including sports psychology, business, and personal development.
It is believed that by visualizing a desired outcome, such as winning a competition or achieving a goal, a person can actually improve their real-life performance when they attempt it.
You can read more about research experiments on the power of praticing visualization in sports in my other article about the science behind Law of Attraction here.
HOW TO VISUALIZE TO GET ANYTHING YOU WANT IN LIFE:
Now we have understood the basic of the question: What is visualization technique? how can we apply it into our daily life to really get what we want?
Visualization can be conducted in many different ways. It could range from just a few minutes of thinking about your desires and enjoying the good feelings that come with it, to a whole session focusing intensively for hours. Depending on the situation and what goal you want to achieve, you can practice it in a way that suits you the most. The important thing is doing it in a way that make you enjoy the process.
Don’t force yourself to do visualization just because you think it will make your dreams come true. Don’t make it like a task or a homework exercise that you are responsible for. Do it when you feel like it.
You may feel like doing visualization when you are facing some unwanted circumstances, visualization could become like a get away from the current situation and help to motivate you up or soothing your emotions.
Here, I will suggest a step-by-step approach to practicing visualization. Feel free to try or modify it by inserting or skipping any step that make you feel more comfortable as each person is different. Remember, your feelings are the most important thing. Feeling good is the ultimate goal for the exercise of visualization or any manifestation technique.
You can start by getting into a quiet and comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. A personal space dedicated for yourself is encouraged, not just for practicing visualization but also for recharging your energy in daily life. You can create a small space for yourself at home, decorate it as you like, and create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. A space that evokes relaxing and soothing memories will help enhance the effectiveness of visualization and also get you into the imaginative state more quickly.
You may want to close your eyes or allow yourself to wander freely around. Having a small plant or a fish tank as your focus (should be something come from nature like plants, or some flowers..)is also a good idea. Then, take a few deep breaths to relax your body and mind.
Visualize the desired outcome that you want. Imagine every detail of the scene as vividly as possible like you are really living in it. For example, if you want to improve your public speaking skills, visualize yourself delivering a confident and engaging speech to an attentive audience. See yourself standing tall, making eye contact, and using clear and confident body language.
Engage all of your senses in the visualization. What do you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel in the scene? Try to make it as real as possible in your mind.
Feel the emotions associated with achieving your desired outcome. How would you feel if you achieved your goal? Would you feel proud, happy, fulfilled, or excited? Try to feel those emotions as if you have already achieved your goal.
Stay in that state for as long as you desire. You can naturally switch your imagination to various scenarios based on your different desires. Feel free to aim for the most extravagant dreams, and don’t aim low. It’s your imagination, and you can manifest anything you want. Having the courage to dream is the very first and most important step to make it become your reality.
Sometimes during your visualization, you may experience inspiration or feel motivated to take certain actions or talk to someone. If it feels good and feels right, then go for it, even if you’re not sure about the potential benefits of that action. You don’t need to have all the answers right now.
The more you practice visualization about what you want, the more natural that outcome will feel to you. It’s okay if you feel like you are being delusional, as delusions are the first step to really stepping out of your current reality and reaching for a new state of being. In fact, be delusional!!
By practicing and really living in the reality that you want, your thoughts, behaviors, and mindset will gradually change and adapt to the new reality, allowing you to become a new version of yourself – a version that has everything you want.
So, that’s it! I hope I helped you answer the question of What is visualization technique. The key is to keep practicing and experiencing many different ways of visualization. You can even create your own way of doing it, such as how you set up the space around you and what kind of music you use to support the visualization.
You can also do it before going to bed. This is actually a technique that’s advised by Neville Goddard. When we are about to fall asleep, our subconscious mind becomes very receptive to anything that we want to impress upon it. This can also lead to a few dreams that follow up after we have already fallen asleep. This will accelerate the process of manifestation, as Neville Goddard said, “imagination is the act of creation.”
