I have spent a quite amount of time planning out what I want to do once this season arrives. But this year, I’ve got a special focus: self-love (after spending the majority of my time last year burning myself out with work ).

Today, I want to share my awesome self-love summer bucket list ideas with you, hoping they’ll inspire you to create your own and have a freaking amazing summer.

Get ready, ’cause it’s gonna be fun!

My Self-Love Summer Bucket List Ideas

A Spa day is a must!

I’m a huge fan of spas and pampering myself with love. It’s during these moments that I truly unwind and, honestly, on my spa days, I completely forget about everything else in my life. It’s just me, indulging in relaxation and self-care.

Now, if you’re worried about not having the budget for a spa day, don’t fret! I’m all about the DIY spa day.

Sure, I do enjoy indulging in spa services at a proper spa center, but most of the time, I prefer doing it all by myself (maybe also because I’m an introvert and also kinda shy lol). Doing spa by myself, I can orchestrate exactly what I want to do cause I know my body and my preferences.

So, here are my favorite ideas for a DIY spa day that I’d love to share with you:

Set the Mood

Create a serene atmosphere by dimming the lights, lighting scented candles, and playing relaxing music.

Relaxing Bath

I always like to start my self care routine with first taking a good bath. Fill your bathtub with warm water and add some Epsom salts, a few drops of essential oils, or a bath bomb. Sink into the tub, let go of any tension, and enjoy a peaceful soak.

You can also make a DIY scrub by mixing a cup of sugar or salt with a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil. Gently massage the scrub onto your body in circular motions to remove dead skin cells and promote smooth, glowing skin. Rinse off in the shower.

Prepare a Foot Soak

Fill a basin with warm water and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, you can simply use some fresh lemon, lemongrass or epsom salts, oats, lavender, up to your favourite.

Soak your feet while you prepare the rest of your spa day. This will help relax and take care of your feet.

DIY Face Mask

Create a homemade face mask using natural ingredients like honey, yogurt, avocado, or oatmeal. Apply the mask to your face, leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

You can soak your feet, have a face mask on, and sit back to enjoy a movie or listen to a podcast.

Hydration and Healthy Refreshments

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and replenish your body. Now, I often make my favourite smoothie using the ingredients I have prepared in advance. Yes, I always love my smoothie fresh and new!

Here’s my simple and delicious recipe for a Strawberry Banana Smoothie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (plain or flavored)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Simply blend all the ingredients together until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.

Relaxation Time

Now that you’ve cleansed and refreshed your body, it’s time to indulge in your Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Find a cozy spot, wrap yourself in a soft robe, and take a moment to relax and unwind. I personally enjoy listening to Louise Hay’s affirmations during this time. Her positive and encouraging energy really resonates with me.

Sip on your delicious smoothie, savoring the flavors, and allow the affirmations to uplift your spirit. It’s a wonderful way to nourish your body and nurture your mind simultaneously.

Enjoy your well-deserved relaxation time with your smoothie and Louise Hay’s affirmations!

Reading a book on a rainy day

The next thing on my summer bucket list ideas is absolute my fav.

Sometimes, summer surprises us with sudden rain showers. In those moments, there’s something magical about reading a book on a rainy day. It’s a time when you can truly unwind and find solace in the cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

So, if you happen to come across a rainy day, don’t hesitate to grab your favorite book, find a snug spot by the window, and let the rhythmic raindrops create a soothing soundtrack for your literary adventure.

I usually save sometime at the end to to kick back, relax, and let my mind wander. I ponder over the book’s plot, characters, and maybe even let my thoughts drift wherever they want to go. It’s the ultimate way to make the most of a rainy day and just enjoy the simple pleasure of reading.

Go on nature hikes or walks in nature

Walking in nature is an amazing way to appreciate the wonders of the earth. You can soak up the vibrant colors of blooming wildflowers, be in awe of the tall, proud trees, and stumble upon hidden gems like peaceful lakes or babbling brooks.

It’s also a great opportunity to soak up some vitamin D and maybe even get a nice tan!

Hiking and walking in nature do more than just provide physical benefits for your health. This is one of the best therapies for reducing stress and anxiety. Being surrounded by the peacefulness and tranquility of natural settings helps clear your mind, reduce stress, and find that much-needed sense of calm.

Plus, research studies show that spending time in nature can ignite your creativity, spark introspection, and provide the perfect space for personal growth.

Get yourself in the water

Getting yourself in the water and spending time on the beach or at a lake is an absolute delight during the summer.

The feeling of weightlessness as you float, swim, or simply dip your toes in the water instantly washes away any worries or stress. It’s like a natural reset button for your mind and body.

The beach and lakeside also offer a myriad of activities to enjoy. You can lounge on the soft sand, basking in the warm sunlight and listening to the rhythmic sounds of the waves. Build sandcastles, play beach volleyball, or try your hand at frisbee.

For those seeking a bit more adventure, watersports like paddleboarding, kayaking, or surfing provide an exhilarating way to engage with the water and embrace the thrill of the waves.

And if you’re in a more relaxed mood, simply sitting by the water’s edge, watching the sunset paint the sky in breathtaking hues, is a truly serene experience.

To me, there is definitely something liberating about expressing yourself through clothing, especially in a laid-back beach setting.
